We use only the highest quality organic ingredients (sourced from our farm on the north shore of Maui and other farms on the Hawaiian islands) to develop formulations that treat sun and weather damaged skin.

Our farm and facility are 100% self sustaining, and we have a firm ideology in regards to sustainable practices. Our production methods are carbon neutral and our packaging is recyclable as we strive to create products that are good for the body, the soul and the earth.

Essential oils and aromatherapeutic benefit are a big part of our product formulation… Our essential oils are of the highest quality available and we consult certified aromatherapists to formulate our line.

Our products are free from harmful chemicals and irritants.

+ WHERE ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE?

All of our products are manufactured on Maui on our all-organic farm by sourcing the highest quality botanical ingredients from around the world.

+ ARE YOUR PRODUCTS VEGAN AND CRUELTY-FREE?

Almost all our products are 100% vegan. We use locally sourced beeswax and honey from Maui and the island of Hawai’i (this being the only non vegan ingredient we use). We strongly believe that bees are a crucial part of the Hawaiian agriculture and pollination process, and choose to support whatever helps bees and bee farmers thrive. ALL of our products are CRUELTY FREE. We never test any of our products on animals, and our ingredients are certified cruelty free.

+ WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF YOUR PRODUCTS?

We recommend you store your OSHAN products in a cool, dry place where it is unlikely to experience direct sunlight. Since we use organic ingredients and avoid synthetic preservatives, we advise that you use your product within 6 months of opening. There is a little number on the bottom of every bottle and jar we make with the batch number. + IS OSHAN FORMULATED FOR ALL SKIN TYPES?

The high quality, organic ingredients we use in our products are beneficial for all skin types. Our oils are all non comedogenic, which means they do not clog pores, and are selected for their ability to balance your skin’s natural oils. Our line deeply nourishes skin without being too heavy.

+ HOW DO I INCORPORATE OSHAN OILS INTO MY SKINCARE RITUAL?

Oshan oils are designed to be essential and versatile in your daily skin ritual.

Other than using our BODY + HAIR mano’i as a daily nourishing treatment for the body and hair, you can also use them to cleanse skin, remove makeup, or shave.

+ I HAVE A NUT ALLERGY. ARE YOUR PRODUCTS SUITABLE FOR ME?

It really depends on what nut you are allergic to, but in general - no. Almost all of our products contain Macadamia nut oil and Kukui nut oil. These are not known to be allergens, but each person is different. We offer sample sizes for all products, and always recommend doing a small patch test before application.

+ DO ESSENTIAL OILS IRRITATE YOUR SKIN?

Not when used correctly! Some essential oils can irritate your skin, especially when exposed to sunlight, but this occurs only when they are not properly diluted with carrier oils.

Just like herbs, essential oils are derived from a range of natural plants and serve a variety of functions. They possess different aromas, boast different beneficial skincare properties and much more. Given the vast variety of oils and their functions, to claim that all essential oils may irritate the skin is not accurate! Our formulas contain carefully chosen essential oils known for their skincare benefits and their ability to work in tandem to restore skin. All of our oils are formulated at safe, effective concentrations and are gentle and absorb easily

+ MY 'ELE FACEWASH IS NOT BLACK; IT SEEMS SEPARATED. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Our 'ELE face wash is made with all natural ingredients, that naturally separate (kind of like organic peanut butter). The 2 natural exfoliants (activated coconut charcoal and sandalwood powder) will sink to the bottom of the bottle, whenever not used.

All you need to do is give the bottle a good shake and make sure you shake it each time before you use it. Check out our video on how we like to shake it!

+ MY FACE FEELS OILY AFTER I USE THE 'ŌPIO ANTI-AGING MANO'I...WHY?

Make sure your face is WET/DAMP when you apply the mano'i! If your face is not wet, make sure you wet your palms and then apply onto face.

The word hydration comes from the word hydra (water). Water hydrates, while oils nourish. We all know water and oils separate and do not like to mix, so when making lotion bonding chemicals are used to keep the two together. Our mano'i supplies the utmost nourishment, but you must add water! Secondly, try using less mano'i. Only 4-6 drops are necessary for the full face and neck.

A bottle of the 'ŌPIO anti aging mano'i should last you over a month when applying twice a day.

+ CAN I USE THE BODY + HAIR MANO'I ON MY FACE?

Absolutely! Although not formulated specifically for the face, our body + hair mano'i is formulated with non comedogenic oils, which means they will not clog your pores. If you were away (letʻs say a boat trip in the maldives) and only had one bottle of the body + hair mano'i, you could also...

Use it as...

• Face mano'i. Just make sure (as with all products) to test patch before apply anything new to entire face. Apply 4-6 drops to wet/damp face. If your skin is more combination skin, you can leave on for 10 minutes, and then wipe off with a wet cloth.

• Make up remover/mascara remover. Apply a few drops onto a cotton ball and gently wipe eyes to remove make up. (Although you may not have packed mascara for a surf trip!)

• Cuticle nourishment. Apply a couple of drops to cuticles and massage into skin.

• Lip aid. Apply a few drops to sun burnt lips. Massage gently.
  
  
  

+ CAN I USE THE BODY POLISH ON MY FACE?

NOT REALLY.

Although our body polishes are made with all natural ingredients, these are far too rough and too salty for your gentle face skin. Our line is made specifically for dry, sun damaged skin, and our body polishes are not for the faint hearted. They deliver efficient exfoliation and supreme nourishment. The raw, organic cocoa and shea butters we use in the polishes are too rich and heavy for the face, which requires lightweight, non comedogenic oils.

We have a couple more face treatments launching later this year, which will include much finer micro-exfoliants and are specifically formulated for the face.

+ WHERE SHOULD I STORE MY PRODUCT?

We recommend storing your product away from direct sunlight to preserve the potency of its natural ingredients.

+ IS YOUR PACKAGING RECYCLABLE?

Absolutely! Our packaging is completely recyclable. We've carefully chosen eco-friendly and miminal packaging to protect the integrity and nature of the ingredients and to minimise waste, protect the environment, and encourage the re-use and re-purposing of your bottles and jars once you've finished them. Clear Glass bottles, droppers, and jars can be recycled with other glass. Remember to rinse your container prior to recycling.

Our black (UV) containers are not so easily recycled. We offer store credit for used containers. Please contact us if you have any you would like to return.

All cardboard and box material is made from recycled materials, and can be recycled again.
